What to expect

The Lycian Trail offers us a wonderful blend of nature, the Mediterranean Sea and Lycian history. We enjoy the wonderful turquoise color of the sea and listen to birds singing in the heart of nature during the day in our walks.


Day 1. Arrival at Dalaman

Arrival at Dalaman Airport, followed by a private transfer to our hotels in Farala / Oludeniz / Fethiye for dinner, acquaintance and overnight stay.


Day 2. Fethiye - Kayaköy - Walk on Oludeniz Laguna 7 km

Visit the traditional Lycian monumental stone tombs

After breakfast at the hotel, we get in the car and drive to Fethiye Centre. Our guide tells us about Lycian history, Fethiye and traditional stone tombs. We have a panoramic city tour, then we visit one of the most famous stone tombs in the area - the Tomb of King Aminth. We listen to the details of this place from our guide and go to Kayaköy, which today is known as "Ghost City". Just before we discover this mysterious city, we taste the traditional Turkish pancakes "Gözleme", then begin our walk, passing through the abandoned city of Kayaköy. After a three-hour walk we will reach the Blue Lagoon and have free time to swim in the wonderful sea. We end our day with this wonderful break and return to our hotel.


Day 3. Ovachik - Kirme - Farala (15 km)

On the third day we will start in Ovachik and climb Mount Babadagh. Today we will enjoy the sunset on top of the charming Butterfly Valley. This route will pass along the high slopes of Babadaga, where you will enjoy the spectacular views of the Blue Lagoon, enjoying the fresh air emitted by the variety of fauna of the mountain. We dine in the city of Kozagach, visiting the local family. The route then takes us to Farala, which overlooks the cliffs leading to Butterfly Valley to enjoy breathtaking views of the sunset.


Day 4. Farala to Kabak Bay 14 km

On this day, we begin our walk from Faral, watching the breathtaking beauty of Butterfly Valley. We go and take pictures. After a 2.5-hour walk, we reach our family’s restaurant for lunch. We are enjoying the traditional lunches. After a break for lunch, we continue to walk through Aktash beach and reach Kabak Bay to plunge into the wonderful sea. We spend our holidays here and then we are picked up by our transfer back to the hotel.


Day 5. Alinja - Bogazichi - Ge - Sidima Village 10-12 km

We leave our hotel and drive to the starting point of our walk. This place is called Alinja. We will climb to a height of 1000 meters, then descend to 800 meters, and begin our route with magnificent views. The beautiful pristine bay that we will see is called the “Bay of Paradise”, which means Paradise. After a 2-hour walk we reach the Flat Stone, which is very famous on the Lycian Trail. This giant stone sits next to a high cliff and its appearance is fantastic and it's fun to take photos on it. After we take a photo on this famous stone, we continue walking for another hour and reach the lunch spot provided by the local family. They cook organic vegetable dishes for us, and these dishes are really delicious. After lunch we continue walking for another 1.5 hours and reach the village of Ge, and then we are picked up by our transfer car and transported to the ancient city of Sidima. We visit this ancient city and are transported to our hotel in Patara.


Day 6. Walk on Delikkemer-Patar 8 km Midday walk on the beach

We have breakfast at our hotel and we are picked up by a bus that takes us to the starting point of our walk, which is called Delikkemer. Its name comes from ancient aqueducts that were built to bring water from the mountain to the city of Patara in ancient times. Our guide talks about the details of these aqueducts and we begin the walk. Our route will run from the heart of a wonderful green forest. After a 3.5-hour walk, we arrive in the ancient city of Patara. St. Nicholas was born here. St. Paul went to Rome in his ship from here. This city was the political and religious center of the Lycian community. There are many more details that our guide will tell you about during our visit to Patara. Right before we start the program in Patara, we go to our hotel, prepare and dine in the city center, then visit Patara and enjoy the beach for the remaining time, which will not be less than 2 hours.


Day 7. Walk Apollonia-Aperlay - Yacht tour - Sunken city of Kekova-Simena

We leave our hotel and our transfer car takes us to the starting point of our walk called Apollonia. We walk about 3 hours and reach the ancient city of Aperlay. Here in Anatolia, the color purple was first produced. Our guide tells us about the important details of this city. After these details, we walk for another half hour and reach the bay where we meet our yacht. Our yacht tour starts from here and we'll be on the yacht all afternoon. We visit the largest island of Antalya - Kekova. It is a sunken city that was destroyed after major earthquakes in ancient times. We visit the surviving Kekova buildings. We have bathing breaks in various coves that are like corners of paradise. We're having lunch on our yacht. We are taken by our yacht to the ancient region of Simena, which today is known as Kalekoy. We go up to the castle and enjoy the fantastic view. We try the organic homemade Simena ice creams made by the locals. At the end of the program, our yacht takes us to the port of Uchagyz, and we board our transfer bus to return to our hotel for the last night of the program.


Day 8. Ufakdere-Choban Bukhta-Limanagzy Bay 8-9 km - Boat transfer to Kash

Today is the last day of our program. We leave the hotel and drive 5 minutes to the start of our walk. We walk about 3/4 hours and reach Limanagza Bay, which is a really fantastic bay near the town of Kash. We board a boat and swim to the Kash Center, where we have free time to walk and have lunch. After this free time we meet at our meeting point and our transfer bus takes us back to Fethiye and Dalaman Airport.

Your returning flights must be later than 21:00 from Dalaman Airport.


What to take with you?

Shoes for hiking or strong shoes with a good tread and support for ankles, shorts and a T-shirt (in warm weather), fleece, raincoats, a daypack (35 liters and more), hiking trousers, a long sleeve, a headdress from the sun, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, the use of trekking sticks, a beach towel, a bathing suit is recommended.


What's going on with our stuff?

We have a transfer bus for 8 days. We don't have to worry about our stuff. We load them on our bus the day we leave. On the other days, we leave them in the rooms.


What weather conditions?

In April, daytime temperatures reach the twenties (Celsius). The days are mostly sunny, but there are still chances of rain. Evenings can be quite cold in early April.

In May, temperatures rise above 25 degrees Celsius, and the chances of rain decrease.

autumn

Autumn lasts from mid-September to October. Days are mostly sunny, with temperatures within twenty degrees, and evenings are warm.

Autumn days cool towards the end of the season.


What is the duration of the walk?

The duration of walks varies and includes breaks and lunch breaks. Distances vary from 9 to 16 km. On most days there is an opportunity for individual walks for a shorter distance.

Our programs are not complicated and everyone can join them as long as you are healthy and have no problems with balance or physical problems.

We don’t go too fast and we don’t make anyone rush.

We do not organize camping, prefer family boarding houses and hotels, bungalows.

Our program is not a professional marathon or performance.

We embrace the principle of fun and enjoying holidays in our programs.

We prefer to dine in local establishments to eat healthy food, avoid luxury, and support agriculture.

We don’t change places often if necessary.
