What to expect

The Lycian Way offers us a wonderful combination of nature, the Mediterranean Sea and Lycian history. We enjoy the wonderful turquoise color of the sea and listen to the birds singing in the heart of nature during the day on our walks.


Day 1. Arrival in Dalaman

Arrive at Dalaman Airport, followed by a private transfer to our hotels in Faralya/Ölüdeniz/Fethiye for dinner, introduction, and overnight.


Day 2. Fethiye - Kayakoy - Oludeniz Lagoon Walk 7 km

Visit to traditional Lycian monumental stone tombs

After breakfast at the hotel, we get in the car and drive to the center of Fethiye. Our guide tells us about Lycian history, Fethiye, and traditional stone tombs. We have a panoramic city tour, then we visit one of the most famous stone tombs in the area - the Tomb of King Amint. We listen to the details of this place from our guide and drive to Kayaköy, which is known today as the "Ghost Town". Right before we discover this mysterious city, we taste the traditional Turkish pancakes "Gözleme", then start our walk by passing through the abandoned town of Kayaköy. After a three-hour walk, we will reach the Blue Lagoon and have free time to swim in the wonderful sea. We end our day with this wonderful break and head back to our hotel.


Day 3. Ovacik - Kirme - Farala (15 km)

On the third day, we will start in Ovacik and climb Mount Babadag. Today we will enjoy the sunset at the top of the charming Butterfly Valley. This route will take you along the high slopes of Babadag, where you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Blue Lagoon while enjoying the fresh air emitted by the diversity of the mountain's fauna. We have lunch in the town of Kozağaç while visiting a local family. The route will then take us to Farala, which overlooks the cliffs leading to Butterfly Valley to enjoy a breathtaking view of the sunset.


Day 4. Farala to Kabak Bay 14 km

On this day, we start our walk from Faral, observing the breathtaking beauty of Butterfly Valley. We go and take pictures. After a 2.5-hour walk, we reach our family-run restaurant for lunch. We enjoy traditional cutlets for lunch. After a lunch break, we continue walking through Aktash Beach and reach Kabak Bay to take a dip in the wonderful sea. We spend our rest time here and then we are picked up by our transfer back to the hotel.


Day 5. Alınca - Boğaziçi - Ge Village - Sidima 10-12 km

We check out of our hotel and drive to the starting point of our walk. This place is called Alınja. We will climb to an altitude of 1000 meters, then descend to 800 meters, and start our route with magnificent views. The beautiful pristine bay that we will see is called "Paradise Bay", which means Paradise. After a 2-hour walk, we reach the Flat Stone, which is very famous on the Lycian Way. After we take a photo on this famous stone, we continue walking for another hour and reach the lunch place, which is provided by a local family. They prepare organic vegetable dishes for us and these dishes are really delicious. After lunch, we continue walking for another 1.5 hours and reach the village of Ge, and then we are picked up by our transfer car and transported to the ancient city of Sidima. We visit this ancient city and are transferred to our hotel in Patara.


Day 6. Delikkemeru-Patara Walk 8 km Midday Walk Afternoon Relax on the Beach

We have breakfast at our hotel and are picked up by a bus that takes us to the starting point of our walk, which is called Delikkemer. Its name comes from the ancient aqueducts that were built to bring water from the mountain to the city of Patara in ancient times. Our guide talks about the details of these aqueducts and we start our walk. Our route will take you from the heart of a wonderful green forest. After a 3.5-hour walk, we arrive at the ancient city of Patara. St. Nicholas was born here. St. Paul went to Rome on his ship from here. This city was the political and religious center of the Lycian community. There are many more details that our guide will tell you about during our visit to Patara. Right before we start the program in Patara, we go to our hotel, get ready and have lunch in the city center, and then visit Patara and enjoy the beach for the rest of the time, which will not be less than 2 hours.


Day 7. Apollonia-Aperlai Cruise - Yacht Tour - Sunken City of Kekova-Simena

We check out of our hotel and our transfer car takes us to the starting point of our walk, which is called Apollonia. We walk for about 3 hours and reach the ancient city of Aperlai. It was here in Anatolia that the color purple was produced for the first time. Our guide tells us about the important details of this city. After these details, we walk for another half hour and reach the bay where we meet our yacht. Our yacht tour starts from here and we will be on the yacht all afternoon. We visit the largest island of Antalya - Kekova. It is a sunken city that was destroyed after great earthquakes in ancient times. We visit the preserved buildings of Kekova. We have breaks for swimming in various coves that are like corners of paradise. We have lunch on our yacht. We are taken by our yacht to the ancient area of Simena, which today is known as Kaleköy. We go up to the castle and enjoy the fantastic view. We try Simena's organic homemade ice creams, which are made by the locals. At the end of the program, our yacht takes us to Üçağız Port and we board our transfer bus to return to our hotel for the last night of the program.


Day 8. Ufakdere-Choban Bay-Limanagzi Bay 8-9 Km - Boat Transfer to Kaş

Today is the last day of our program. We check out of the hotel and drive 5 minutes to the start of our walk. We walk for about 3/4 hours and reach Limanagzi Bay, which is really a fantastic bay near the town of Kas. We board a boat and sail to the Kaş center, where we have free time to walk around and have lunch. After this free time, we meet at our oncoming point and our transfer bus takes us back to Fethiye and Dalaman Airport.

Your return flights must be later than 21:00 from Dalaman Airport.


What to bring?

Hiking boots or sturdy shoes with good tread and ankle support, shorts and T-shirt (in warm weather), fleece, raincoats, day backpack (35 liters or more), hiking pants, long sleeves, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, trekking poles recommended, beach towel, bathing suit.


What happens to our belongings?

We have a shuttle bus for 8 days. We don't have to worry about our belongings. We load them onto our bus on the day of departure. On other days, we leave them in the rooms.


What are the weather conditions?

Spring

In April, daytime temperatures reach twenties (Celsius). The days are mostly sunny, but there is still a chance of rain. Evenings can be quite cold in early April.

In May, temperatures rise above 25 degrees Celsius and the chances of rain decrease.

Autumn

Autumn lasts from mid-September to October. The days are mostly sunny, with temperatures in the twenties, and the evenings are warm.

Autumn days cool down towards the end of the season.


How long are the walks?

The duration of the walks varies and includes breaks and lunch breaks. Distances vary from 9 to 16 km. On most days there is an opportunity for individual walks over a shorter distance.

Our programs are not complicated and anyone can join them as long as you are healthy and have no balance or physical problems.

We don't go too fast and we don't make anyone rush.

We do not organize camping, we prefer family guesthouses and hotels, bungalows.

Our program is not a professional marathon or performance.

We adhere to the principle of having fun and enjoying your vacation in our programs.

We prefer to dine at local establishments in order to eat healthily, avoid luxuries, and support agriculture.

We don't often change placements if necessary.
