Basilica Cistern
During our tour, we will visit the Basilica Cistern, it is one of the most important cultural heritage, where you can trace almost the entire history of great Istanbul.
In ancient times, the Cistern served as a reservoir for water and was the main reservoir of Constantinople. It was built in case of drought or siege of the city and could hold almost 80,000 tons of water.
Today, there are more than 40 underground reservoirs on the territory of Istanbul, but the Basilica Cistern is still considered one of the largest and most significant water reservoirs of the ancient world.
Inside the Cistern there are 336 tall columns, which do not resemble each other, as they were brought from different ancient cities of the world.
On certain days, the museum hosts exhibitions and performances, as well as filmed episodes of famous films such as "James Bond. From Russia with Love" and "Odyssey" by Konchalovsky.
Gulhane Park
And then we will go to the most famous park in Istanbul - Gulhane Park, where nature, culture and history of Istanbul are intertwined.
It was built during the Ottoman period and has preserved its richness and grandeur of historical days to this day. The park is located in Istanbul's Eminonu district. At one time, it was one of the private gardens of Topkapi Palace, the garden was full of tulips, roses, and different flowers imported from all over the world.
The park is rich in historical events, it was here that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk introduced people to Latin letters on November 24, 1928 and gave his first lesson.
The park is still a natural wonder, despite its magnificence, it is a great place for walks where you can have a good time.
Egyptian Market
And of course, how can we do without the famous Turkish market, which all guests of Istanbul talk about.
We will visit with you one of the most famous and most visited markets in Istanbul, which is also called the spice market, as it is here that the richest and most diverse selection of spices in all of Istanbul is located.
Originally, the market was part of the mosque building, but over time it has become a separate structure, where about 80 different shops with Turkish sweets, spices and spices are gathered.
Karaköy Quarter
And after the market, after making small purchases and learning interesting stories, we will go with you to the historical center of Istanbul, which has been considered the most prestigious and sought-after area of the city since the 19th century.
It is from the Karaköy quarter that a picturesque view of the Golden Horn Bay opens, and the main attraction of the area is the Güllüoğlu café-confectionery, which is more than 200 years old. It is here that authentic Turkish baklava is prepared, according to an ancient recipe passed down from generation to generation.
And, of course, the fish market, where the owners of Istanbul's famous fish restaurants go at dawn to buy fresh fish for their visitors. Here you can buy your favorite fish, and for a small fee, it will be cooked for you in a nearby restaurant.
In addition to local attractions, in the Karaköy district, visitors to Istanbul visit the Armenian Church, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and the Russian Orthodox Church of St. Panteleimon.
Walk on the Bosphorus
And we will end our excursion with a yacht trip along the mysterious Bosphorus.
The Bosphorus Strait connecting Europe with Asia, as well as the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, is so alluring and fascinating. It holds thousands of years of history and secrets of the Ottoman Empire.
There is nothing better than enjoying Istanbul from the board of a pleasure yacht, which slowly moves along the sea surface, along the picturesque shores of the mighty ancient city.
Just imagine, you will have a picturesque view of the architecture of ancient buildings from the European and Asian sides of the city at the same time.
You will see the famous Dolmabahce and Topkapi Palaces, the Sultanahmet Mosque, the Rumeli Hisarı Fortress, and the famous Maiden's Tower.
Thank you. Jan. 2019 I would like to thank escoTour Travel Agency for their help! Unfortunately, we arrived in Coppadocia on a bad day and quite late and, having climbed to the observation room, realized that we did not know what to do next. . . Remembering that they saw a Russian-language sign, they decided to go back and ask what was the point. . We were called inside when we were not even going to enter, and hesitantly trampled on the porch :) A caring guide gave us tea, told us everything and even offered to take us to the hotel at a convenient time in a terrible blizzard! We didn’t even buy a tour or were customers. : In general, it is very hospitable and human! Thank you!
